Presentation made as part of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation's September 2005 conference Meeting the Need:  Affordable, Responsible Short-Term Credit.  Drawing from several recent Woodstock research publications, the presentation shows the high costs associated with traditional payday lending, "bounce" protection, and credit cards.

Woodstock Institute's CRA 101: Tools for Improving Community Development Lending, Services and Investments is a training guide to using the Community Reinvestment Act for community organizations.  The guide is designed to inform community development practioners at the local level and give them the tools they need to work with banks to increase access to credit and financial services in their communities.
Presentation made to the Neighborhood Funders Group as part of their 2005 conference Diverse Voices, Values, and Traditions: Philanthropy in the 21st Century.The presentation includes information the unbanked immigrant community, the use of remmitances, and the opportunities to engage the immigrant community in the financial mainstream.
