Illinois Credit Union to Open New Branch in Rural Kankakee Print E-mail

Credit Union 1, a Rantoul Illinois based $390 million financial institution, has announced a new branch in the extremely underserved area of Pembrooke Township, Illinois.  Credit Union Times reports that parts of the community,  which lies about 60 miles south of Chicago, lacks running water, paved streets and phone service.  The new branch will open in the township's town hall and will offer free checking and low-interest alternatives to payday loans.

In other news, Credit Union 1 continues to partner with the Logan Square Neighborhood Association in the Logan Square Neighborhood of Chicago, to offer similar products to unbanked residents of that community.
