Jenna Severson joined Woodstock Institute as Communications and Development Associate in 2017. She is responsible for improving the public’s access to Woodstock Institute’s expert research and policy work by connecting with the press, updating the Woodstock website and social media, and producing interactive presentations and reports. On the development side, she is responsible for building relationships with funders, maintaining grant proposals and reports, and planning and promoting Woodstock events.
Before she came to Woodstock, Jenna worked in fundraising at Envision Unlimited, a nonprofit organization providing community-integrated services for Chicago’s developmentally disabled. She also provided direct service to youth facing the impacts of political and economic injustice at both RefugeeOne in Chicago and in the townships of Cape Town, South Africa, where she partnered with a local HIV/AIDS organization, Yabonga, to teach community development. Her writing abilities stem from her experience as a writing tutor and as an editor in academic publishing.
Jenna earned her B.A. in English and Women’s Studies Gender Studies from Loyola University Chicago, where she was awarded both departments’ top honors.
